People might have used stone because they had no other choice in the past and there were probably not many other hard materials for them to use but why do so many people still prefer to use them now? One of the main reasons that people still prefer natural stone tiles to any other flooring is their beauty. Many homeowners love the colour variation and natural effect of the tiles and the fact that they come from nature is yet another draw card. Natural stone tiles are not plain and boring; each tile is different from one another. The feel touch and even the smell of them are different from manufactured tiles. Stone products are very durable.
You should do three sponging cycles in order to maintain the cleanliness and stunning of the tile. The purpose of the first sponging is to clean the excess grout over the tile second is to smoothed the joints and third is to clean any residue left on the tile. However you have to allow minutes of time between sponging cycles because this allow the grout to set properly. Also be reminded that use the clean side of the sponge when wiping and cleaning the tile after grouting. And lastly wipe down the tile the next day to help seal the grout and to clean the tile as well. Always make sure that you use the correct sealant labeled for natural stone tile in order to maintain the appearance of the natural stone tile. Many people complain about natural stone floor tiles absorbing dirt or start developing holes after few years.
The absorption rate is how porous a material is. The more absorbent a material is the more likely it is to stain as well as how much cracking damage it suffers during freezing conditions. There are four different levels of absorption when it comes to natural tiles. Non-vitreous is the highest absorption and should not be used in any environment that can become damp. Semi-vitreous are less absorbent but will require more maintenance the more liquid is exposed to them. Vitreous is the standard level of absorption and is considered most appropriate to be placed in areas with low to mid indoor or outdoor traffic. Impervious is the most resistant when it comes to the absorptions of liquids and are the easiest to maintain and clean.
