Many home owners are choosing natural tiles for their flooring as they not only create a high quality and stylish look but they are extremely durable thus a fantastic investment as they last such a long time. Natural stone tiles have been used in homes and businesses for hundreds of years and are fast becoming a popular option for those who are seeking quality materials to tile their home or business. As these types of floor tiles are so durable you will find that the areas in which you can use them is almost endless. For example you could use natural stone tiles indoors in rooms such as your kitchen or bathroom. You could also use these types of natural tiles for outdoor areas too such as a patio or outdoor steps.
If you want to make a real design impact on an area in your home with natural stone tiles there are many ways in which you can do so. For example tiles made from natural stone look fantastic in bathrooms. You could choose to use these tiles on the floor only which of course will look amazing. However for a really glamorous and high quality bathroom you could also choose to use these tiles on walls too as many of the materials used are not only long lasting but waterproof. Natural stone is the most sought tiling materials for household and commercial buildings and can be of marble granite slate or limestone. They could impress visitors and fill grand entrances of your homes.
First of all due to the high quality and fact that it is a natural material natural stone can be more expensive than other solutions. They also can be more difficult to fit and maintain which can also increase the cost. One factor with fitting natural stone tiles is that they can be more difficult to cut when tiling around fixtures and fittings. The best way to cut stone tiles is to use an electric wet tile cutter and preferably to do this outside or in a prepared environment due to the potential to get water and debris spray. When fitting natural stone tiles it is also important to seal the tiles after fitting as this may otherwise result in the stone becoming stained.
The second step is washing. All the tiles must be washed with water and soap and they must be free of any dirt grout or tile adhesive. After washing you must allow the tiles to be dried for two to four weeks depending on the season. In winter it takes more time for the tiles to be dried so it takes more time and during the summer the tiles get dry quicker so one to two weeks would be fine. The last step is sealing. Sealing is like applying a layer of glue on top of the tiles to protect the surface from dirt and water absorption. Sealers are quite pricy however; it is worth it to spend some money to protect your beautiful natural stone.
