This seal needs to be applied after tiles have been laid and grouted and after any residual dust adhesive or grout need to be removed with a residual remover. After applying and removing the residual remover a seal can then be added to help prevent materials and liquids from entering the pores of the stone and leaving potential marks. This seal needs to be regularly maintained in order to keep the tiles in good condition and can even be added to through the use of enhancing products to bring out the natural grain and contrasts of the stone. Natural stone tiles are one of the best types of tile that you can lay in your home whether you use them in the kitchen bathroom or anywhere else.
One important consideration to take into account when choosing tiles is of course their suitability for the application you need them in. Some tiles will be better suited for indoor use and may not be suitable for use in a wetroom or swimming pool application for example. This does however highlight their extreme versatility and the wide range of applications natural stone tiles can be used for from bathrooms to living rooms conservatories swimming pools wetrooms and kitchens. Another very significant benefit of using natural stone tiles for your floor or wall is that they lend themselves by nature to providing more flexibility in terms of patterns and design.
Im using a few of my vacation days to make a final push in the kitchen before moving on to the master bath. From what Ive done so far I think the kitchen looks terrific! Sure its probably not as perfect (and certainly the work isnt getting done as fast) as it would be if I hired a professional crew but Im enjoying putting in the natural stone tiles on my own. I think Ill derive greater satisfaction out of the finished product knowing it came as a direct result of my own toil. Now lets just hope I actually get all of this work done in a reasonable amount of time! All natural stone tiles are subject to variations in colour grain structure tonality and veining. Expert sales staff can give guidance on the correct procedure for handling installing and preserving each type of tile in the ranges available but it is strongly recommend all natural stone is installed by a professional stone mason or tiler. One of the advantages of having natural stone is its long lasting beauty. Sand dirt or grit can do damage to any surface so it is highly recommended that interior floors are frequently swept and mopped with a dry dust mop. Placing mats or rugs at the entrance of a hallway or room will also help minimise the problem. Also avoid using cleaning utensils which could have sharp edges as it will scratch and make the surface lose its shine. When cleaning natural stone always use a mild non-abrasive cleaning detergent with warm water. A clean mop for floors and a soft cloth for other surface areas should be used. The cleaning product you use should not have vinegar lemon or acid in its contents as these will do harm to the surface of the natural stone. In wet areas e.g. showers soap scum can be reduced by applying a non-acidic soap scum remover and using a squeegee to rub it in and wipe down with clean water.
