It is time to get price quotes. These should be thoroughly researched and in written format so that you can compare more easily. Do not just take the word of the person since then you have no sort of contract with the person. Overall when finally deciding that it is time to remodel you need to make sure that you are completely comfortable with your decision of contractor and that they do know how to use natural stone tiles. There is nothing worse than realizing that you hired a dud since it means that the remodel of your dreams is not turning out as planned or it is taking longer than necessary. Natural stone tiles handle just like any other type of ceramic tile however have the look of stone.
You should do three sponging cycles in order to maintain the cleanliness and stunning of the tile. The purpose of the first sponging is to clean the excess grout over the tile second is to smoothed the joints and third is to clean any residue left on the tile. However you have to allow minutes of time between sponging cycles because this allow the grout to set properly. Also be reminded that use the clean side of the sponge when wiping and cleaning the tile after grouting. And lastly wipe down the tile the next day to help seal the grout and to clean the tile as well. Always make sure that you use the correct sealant labeled for natural stone tile in order to maintain the appearance of the natural stone tile. Many people complain about natural stone floor tiles absorbing dirt or start developing holes after few years.
Actually now that Im thinking about it I probably would have chosen to decorate with natural stone tiles anyway since they look so much better than linoleum wood or other types of flooring. Thats just my humble opinion of course. So once I decided to use natural stone tiles in these rooms I checked through some books and magazines for inspiration. I found lots of lovely patterns to choose from and decided to try to emulate a few of the looks I discovered on those glossy pages. The next step was to purchase the natural stone tiles themselves which took a bit more work. At first I went to the local home improvement center but they didnt have the exact tile pattern I wanted -- and their prices were a tad too high anyway. So I started browsing online and came across several websites that stocked precisely what I wanted. They were offering pretty good deals too -- even with shipping and handling charges thrown into the mix. After I took delivery of the natural stone tiles I began the real work of renovating my house. I started in the kitchen where I wanted to replace the backsplash and floor. It took me kind of a long time to get my bearings and gain some confidence in my capabilities but once I got the hang of the process I had no trouble putting each tile in place. Im not quite finished in there but hope to make significant progress next week.
