Using them in your home will with care mean that they last longer than your home probably will! Natural stone is of course available in many different forms such as travertine granite limestone slate sandstone and quartzite and they all differ in the way in which they will age with time and use. It is commonly thought that natural stone tiles improve with age and use because they develop unique characters and qualities. This is of course true even within the different types of stone available; since stone is a natural product no two tiles will be identically alike which will go a long way to making your tiled floor or wall very special indeed.
If you want to make a real design impact on an area in your home with natural stone tiles there are many ways in which you can do so. For example tiles made from natural stone look fantastic in bathrooms. You could choose to use these tiles on the floor only which of course will look amazing. However for a really glamorous and high quality bathroom you could also choose to use these tiles on walls too as many of the materials used are not only long lasting but waterproof. Natural stone is the most sought tiling materials for household and commercial buildings and can be of marble granite slate or limestone. They could impress visitors and fill grand entrances of your homes.
One reason for this is because stone is a very strong material that is more difficult to cut than a wood board or even a ceramic tile which would be scored and snapped. In addition to this you may need to prepare the surface of the sub-floor upon which your tiles will be laid if it is uneven or cracked. This can be done in most cases with a good quality self-leveling compound available from all respectable tile and flooring specialists. When preparing natural stone tiles for laying be sure to spend time inspecting them both for chips and surface scratches. Typically natural stone tiles will arrive with a light wax coating to protect them from potential damage in transit.
